An exciting new opportunity has arisen with our client to join them as a Data Engineer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Assess, research, and analyse business and system needs, exploring alternative options to recommend data technology solutions and designs that meet business needs and deliverables including component reusability, data sharing and security. Leads detailed design phases for data and information projects/programmes identifying, tracking, and resolving technical issues. Prepares high-level and detailed data and information technical specifications for projects in accordance with Group security and architecture documentation objectives. Conducts data platform analysis, making recommendations to assist in the design and implementation of a Data and IT strategy. Assists with determining the best mix of development, interfacing applications, third party vendor solutions to meet data project requirements and business objectives. Contributes to successful project completion by identifying risks and developing / recommending mitigation strategies in line with best practice data standards. Identifies opportunities to improve data quality and management information by both data input enhancements, database management, and reporting. Designs & maintains comprehensive reports, datasets to support business reporting needs. Creates and maintains advanced SQL Stored Procedures to populate fact tables at specific intervals for use in reporting. Builds and maintains ETL SSIS packages to process data from internal systems and third parties and then populate to allow for reporting. Ensure that this data is correct and that any issues are reported and actioned in good time. Builds or maintains SSIS packages for tasks other than ETL. Builds databases to the supplied schema and data dictionary. Produces existing reports when required, analyses and tests the results.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Proven technology industry experience (preferably holds an IT related degree).
Previous experience working in Regulated and Financial services.
Strong experience in systems analysis, testing, integration, design techniques and tools.
Experience with digital analytics administration, solution implementations, metrics analysis and analytics best practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
Risk assessment and quantification methodologies.
Conflicts and issues resolution and escalation.
Software Development Lifecycle – SDLC.
Experience of, or a willingness to learn and operate under a formal methodology such as AGILE, Prince II, etc.
Leadership and management experience.
