RISK MANAGER | ref.MF40
We are exclusively recruiting for an award-winning international investment company who are looking to recruit a Risk Manager to join their team in the Isle of Man.
The successful candidate will assist the Head of Risk & Compliance in all aspects of conformance across Isle of Man and UK locations, ensuring adherence to laws, regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures, and for coordinating the management of all risks identified.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
To maintain working knowledge of the company-wide Risk Management Framework, and to ensure that the Business Unit aligns and implements its requirements on a timely basis.
To provide pragmatic and practical risk interpretation, guidance and advice to the business, its managers and support functions.
To assist in the establishment, implementation and maintenance of Business Unit’s 'risk appetite', and ensure that its commercial approach remains inside its agreed thresholds, yet supportive of the Business Unit’s strategy.
To oversee the management of the Risk & Control Self-Assessment, Risk Appetite Statements and associated quantitative and qualitative Key Risk Indicators.
To Manage the Business Unit’s Enterprise-wide Risk Management mechanism, ensuring that relevant risks are identified, controlled and documented within the Risk & Control Self-Assessment process.
To ensure that accurate monthly Key Risk Indicator metrics are produced and circulated to the business, its managers and support functions.
To assist in the establishment, implementation and maintenance of clear and concise policies, procedures, and standards for preventing, detecting and correcting non-compliance with risk management controls.
To input into the Risk & Compliance Monitoring Programme, to ensure that risk controls are tested for adequacy and effectiveness.
To assist in the provision of accurate management information and reports to Regulators, the Executive Committee, Board(s), Audit Risk Committee, Enterprise Risk Committee, Wealth Cluster and Group functions.
To drive or support procedural and system efficiencies in terms of producing risk-driven management information for the business.
To assist with the requirements of Regulators, Group Internal Auditors and other assurance providers, and to coordinate regulatory inspections, and other external assurance testing.
To provide support and leadership for staff to nurture a risk and compliance culture across the business.
To support internal Group-wide projects, ensuring technical expertise complements the desired objectives of the initiative.
To collaborate with and support the Compliance Officer in the discharge of their Principal Duties and Responsibilities.
Responsible for planning own routine work in delivering to the Teams objectives and accountabilities.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
A relevant professional qualification in risk, compliance, financial crime prevention, data security, financial services and / or at least 5 years’ experience in a risk-focused role.
Demonstrable experience and skill of risk and compliance functions ideally within the fund / investment industry.
Detailed knowledge of regulatory framework and requirements of Isle of Man, UK, Ireland and ideally, South Africa.
Broad based knowledge of the offshore financial services industry.
Excellent communication skills with well-developed analysis skills.
Self-motivated and well organised with an ability to adapt and tackle a wide variety of challenges.
Ability to deal with people in a friendly, measured and professional manner, both within the organisation and also with external parties.
Lead by example, support the business strategy and nurture colleagues.
Be analytical yet pragmatic in support to the business and maintain a client-impact focus.
